Did I miss the train? 2/23/06

So how do you know that your 2 yr. old is ready to begin potty training? One good indication would be when he gets undressed, takes off his wet diaper, gets out a new diaper, lays down, and yells "Mom!". Yeah, Bryce has been doing that for a couple of weeks now......and with my other two kids, I would immediately have them "all-aboard" and riding that big old train speeding towards Pottyville.

But Bryce is a man of few words.....well, few English words. (He has an extensive vocabulary in "Brycenese".....Brooke and Braden are quite fluent in Brycenese.....therefore, he doesn't really feel the need to learn English.) And I fear the phrase "I gotta pee".....will never come out of his mouth. We've worked on it.....alot.....but Bryce just either just laughs and yells "Nemo!" (the underwear he currently prefers), or says "Ummm, no."

So, like the organized, ambitious, Type A, mother that I am (yeah, in the Bizaro Universe).....I just put it off.

That was my first mistake, my second came earlier this morning. While I was diligently paying bills and balancing my on-line banks accounts (aka reading blogs), Bryce decided he had just about enough of this wearing diapers stuff. He went into the other room, took off his diaper, and put his pants back on. I was clueless to his "comando" state of dress.....until I heard him gasp "Oh no!" and turned to see him standing in a puddle. At least he grabbed his sister's blanket and started cleaning it up.

The kid doesn't want to wear diapers, I get that now......and it seems he is going to do this with or without me. So we have gotten on the train and are holding on for dear life.

Here's hoping my washing machine, wood floors, and my wavering resolve can hold up all the way to Pottyville. Choo-choo!!
